Amina Al Abbasi

Amina Al Abbasi is an upcoming painter striving to strike a balance between contemporary art practice and Bahraini culture. “Painting has always been a significant part of my life and my expression,” says the artist. The artist kick started her career in banking and finance before she decided to share her artwork with the world. “Three years into my banking career, I decided to showcase my work at local exhibitions, and I was surprised how people reacted to my work,” she says.

She is now the owner and artist-in-residence at Amina Gallery, located in the Seef Mall in Bahrain. She has exhibited her work in ArtBahrain 2015 and has shown work in Harrods, London as well as at the Souq Waqif Art Center in Doha, Qatar.

Al Abbasi has worked among various other artists on “Caravans of Peace,” a project led by Bahrain’s Ministry of Development and Human Rights that strives to paint life-size camel statues and showcase them as public landmarks in Bahrain.

In addition to creating and exhibiting visual art, Al Abbasi’s furniture designs and fashion accessories have sold at department stores throughout the Gulf.

After running her own gallery and business, Al Abbasi was listed as a finalist for the Bahrain Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2015. In addition, she is a motivational speaker for young entrepreneur.
